Dislivelli
Every now and then a new producer pops up from seemingly nowhere that hits so hard that you don't know how they managed to stay out of sight for so long. This is one of those Producers! When I first tasted this wine, I immediately knew I wanted it in my portfolio, and am delighted that it was one of the wines to launch my agency. 'Rare' is perhaps an understatement when speaking about every aspect of this elixir. Alongside his career as an architect, winemaker Gian Piero farms just one hectare of vines using biodynamic and no-till regenerative practices, producing wines that are extremely expressive of both time and place. His plot is in Valtellina's most prestigious zone, the 'Sassella' known for its very shallow, gravelly soils and steep slopes. The vinification is done in amphora with a spontaneous fermentation of whole berries and is followed by a maceration on its skins of 121 days. Dislivelli is an ethereal wine that displays the absolute essence of Nebbiolo, a light yet brilliantly complex wine that slowly reveals itself overtime.
