Domaine Le Puy de l'Ours
We first tasted the wine of Domaine Le Puy de L’Ours at one of our favourite places in Paris; Pepites-Lacave in the 6th. It’s quite fitting actually as the, elegant, beautiful couple that are crafting these wines also met in Paris. From the moment we first sipped their 2021 Les Monsnières Chardonnay, we knew this was a domaine that we needed to make a part of our portfolio. We immediately reached out to set up a visit, and the rest, as they say is history. The wines that Jean and Juliette are crafting are simply outstanding, and this is only their second vintage. There is an unforced, even effortless expressiveness in these wines that we just cant get enough of. The aromatics are vivid with a clarity and precision that points to a natural purposed approach. Their mouthfeel’s are sleek, with barely perceptible tannins, yet an intensity that impressively deepens the delicate appeal of the aromatics. These are wines of pleasure, a pleasure equal parts accessible and abundant. Savigny-lès-Beaune has quickly become one of the most sought after wine regions in Burgundy as the quality to price ratio is superior to many other regions and there is a groundswell of young, talented wine makers calling it home.We cannot wait to see where Jean and Juliette take their fledgling domaine, and could not be more excited to be along for the ride.
