Ferren wines are artisanal, collectible, site expressive wines from the Sonoma Coast. Their wine maker, Matt Courtney spent 8 years working with Helen Turley at Marcassin before launching Ferren. 

Those lucky enough to have experienced the Marcassin wines will know the style she produces is extrovert and expressive, tenets that Matt has carried over to his own wines, but with a modern sense of refinement, purity & tension; attributes that make his wines shine. Make no mistake, these are bold wines – they are bottled Californian sunshine, but that’s not to say they don’t have precision, freshness and layer after layer of flavour. The magnificent richness of these wines is simply the attribute of the exceptional, sustainably farmed fruit that makes up the Ferren range.

A lovely medium red colour, the Ferren 2021 Pinot Noir Sonoma Coast is Ferren’s appellation wine and was raised in 20% new oak. This wine opens to a beautiful perfume of pomegranate and a hint of blue fruit, fresh roses, fresh herbs, and delicate mushroomy earth. It’s lovely on the palate, with medium body, and it’s fine, well-defined, and very even throughout, with refreshing acidity. Drink it over the next 8-10 years.

This red's pure beam of mulberry, griotte and blood orange pâte de fruit is racy, fresh and in perfect alignment as the flavors pick up dried anise, bergamot and iris accents along the way. Captivating for its combination of range and restraint, with a long, streamlined finish that ripples with subtle tension. Drink now through 2032. —J.M.
