"The 2021 Bourgogne Tonnerre Les Huées is showing nicely, exhibiting aromas of white flowers, crisp orchard fruit and subtle hints of smoke and petrol. Medium to full-bodied, satiny and racy, it's a bright, precise wine."
-William Kelley
Jérémy Arnaud is the son of a longtime coopérateur who owns some 15 hectares, including several lesser-known premiers crus. But Jérémy didnt want to follow in his footsteps. After studies at Montpellier, he started up with a mere 0.55 hectares, vinifying his first vintage in 2017. He has also planted small parcels at higher densities in Béru, Beines and Bourgogne Tonnerre. Working without herbicides, he harvests by hand, ferments with native yeasts and vinifies in both tank and barrel, pursuing long élevage on the lees and bottling by hand without filtration. Since 2022, he's now working in a winery of his own, with temperature control, which will surely bring further advantages. This artisanal approach delivers wines of texture, tension and strong personality that show considerable potential. My latest tasting spanned Arnaud's largest range to date, with several new lieu-dit cuvées and the first vintages of his Bourgogne Tonnerre (a parcel that, between frost and hail, has been singularly unlucky since it was planted but which is evidently of superb potential).
